This is an entry for the 2009 DeviantART Contest ; Good vs. Evil : Bring Your Vision to Life.
A concept of the devil and god being the same with an alter ego. Symbolism: the Devil having the thumb on the inside of the left hand showing opposites, taken from witch craft of the backward letter symbolizing evil. The devil holding a young child, newly born if you will..., symbolizing purity and perfection, good heart, divinity. Media: Hand sketched on paper using a pencil, scanned it to the pc, coloured and rendered it there using Adobe Photoshop. I then brought into Illustrator and used the live trace option to vector it, which gave me the colour cut outs. Doing sketches and rendering on the pc as opposed to doig a proper clean drawing and then rendering it on the pc, is one of my favorite ways of doing artwork because i get the messy edges and grimy effects, which i love in my artwork. A piece I did over as the original had no background I wanted some thing like a cave or gore walls in it. |
